For an exhibition at Art2102, then located in Boyle Heights, I presented a slide show featuring all the banks, check cashing business,
and places where one can transfer money located in East First Street, Los Angeles. This piece was part of a larger installation presented
with Dee Williams that focused on the street of this then new exhibition space (2004). The images were accompanied by an audio piece -
chapter nineteen of The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. In the chapter, the author gives a historical context to the appropriation of
land in California while describing rising racism against migrants from Oklahoma during the Great Depression.
